Think about this for a minute. Making lasting changes in your life right now. What would that mean to you and what changes would you make. It is a big important question. Change is not easy and is not promoted much in society today, but change is inevitable, as if it is going to happen, it is best that it happens for your betterment and happiness.

We’re going to go over the 5 important steps to keep in mind, to make sure that the changes you make stick and that they stay with you. Let’s get into it.

So let’s go over each of these steps that were outlined above one by one.

 

Do The Work

 

To make changes on the outside you first need to stop and evaluate your core values from which your point of view is made up from. We all have core values and beliefs and is set at a very fundamental level of our being. It is important to first understand what are your core values and beliefs and where are they derived from. Taking stock and understanding your beliefs and thought processes will allow you to do positive work in making the adjustments that you need to bring about the changes that you want in your life.

 

Be Honest With Yourself

 

When looking at your core beliefs and values it is very easy to have your blinkers on and just see these behaviors as normal. It is an easy type of dishonest to fall into, thinking “Well everybody’s like this, aren’t they”, but it’s not true, it is just your way of thinking and it is important to be honest and take ownership and responsibility for that way of thinking. Having that honest outlook will give you the platform from where change can emerge. Understanding that the status quo isn’t the way that always has to be is very important and being honest with yourself about that is imperative.

 

Keep Stepping At Your Own Pace

 

It is important to take things one step at a time and at your own pace. Life has a emergent quality to it. Once you finish the task at hand, the next phase presents itself. So it is important that even though you need to have a long-term view of the changes that you want to make, make sure that  you don’t get caught up too much in how do I get from here to there. Focus on the task at hand and things will present themselves as you progress.

Create New Habits

 

For changes are to become long standing, they need to become habitual. That means going through the discomfort of doing things over and over again in a conscious manner to the point that it becomes a subconscious act. turn the sofa. Practice these new habits for 30 days and these new habits will become long standing and will serve you way into the future.

 

Stay Accountable

 

It is important as you go through this process that you keep yourself accountable. Do the things that you say you are going to do. The worst person that you can lie to ever is yourself. If you can’t trust yourself you can’t trust anyone. That is when life gets really scary, when you don’t know if you’ll going left, right, up or down when you just said that you’re going to take a right. so it is really important that you trust what you say, and do what you say you’re going to do. We all make adjustments along the way, but be accountable for those changes and do them in a way where you’re not just playing yourself off. Believe and trust in your word.
